Junior Golfer Grants
Junior Development Grants
Supporting Committed Junior Golfers to Advance Their Competitive Game
The NYSGA Foundation Junior Development Grants Program provides need-based financial assistance to junior golfers within NYSGA territory who are actively engaged in competitive golf and need support to continue developing and competing.
Competitive golf is expensive
Facility access, coaching, travel, and entry fees are basic costs of the competitive golfer that can limit how far juniors can chase their potential. These grants exist to help close that gap.
This program is designed for juniors already engaged in competitive golf. Families of juniors new to the game are encouraged to explore Youth on Course, First Tee, PGA Section junior programs, school golf, and other entry-point resources.
Eligible Applicants
Eligible junior golfers must (1) be a resident within the NYSGA's membership territory (see map below), (2) be 18 years or younger as of December 31, 2026, (3) demonstrate financial need, and (4) be actively engaged in competitive golf. Eligible juniors may apply annually while they meet these requirements.
Juniors residing in the Rochester and Metro-NY are served by the RDGA and MGA, respectively.
Eligible Use of Funds
Grant support may be used for expenses directly related to competitive junior golf development, including:
- Tournament entry fees (including qualifiers)
- Travel and lodging
- Coaching and instruction
- Practice facility access
- Essential equipment
Awards are determined based on demonstrated financial need, alignment with program purpose, and available funding.
Financial Review
The Foundation operates under a respectful, light-touch financial review process. Applicants are asked to provide:
- A household income range (exact income is not required)
- Number of dependents in the household
- A brief description of the family's financial circumstances
- A proposed budget outlining how requested funds would be used
The Foundation reserves the right to request supporting documentation if needed to clarify financial circumstances. All application information is confidential and reviewed only by the Junior Development Grants Review Committee
