The BDGA is proud to announce two new scholarships to be awarded in 2027!

In addition to the Fred Silver and Betsy Ulmer Scholarships the Buffalo District is proud to announce the addition of the Jim Mohan Scholarship & The Gary Grelick Playing Grant. Please see below for more information on all the Buffalo Distirct Golf Association's scholarship opportunities.

Gary Grelick Playing Grant (New in 2027)

Established in 2026 to honor Gary Grelick. This grant is intended to support the development and advancement of high school aged golfers in Western New York by offsetting costs typically associated with competitive golf. Applications are due by October 31st, 2026. Recipients will be selected and money will be distributed in early 2027. Instructions for submitting are included in the application link above.

Jim Mohan Scholarship (New in 2027)

Established in 2026 the Jim Mohan Scholarship award will be gifted to one boy and one girl to help subsize their post high school expenses. Eligible expenses include (but not limited to) college/university, trade school, military commitments. Applications are due by May 1st, 2027. Fred Silver Scholarship

Established in 1976 the Fred Silver Scholarship is awarded to one high school senior attending college to assist financially with educational expenses. Applications are due by May 1st, 2027. Instructions for submitting are included in the application link above.

Betsy Ulmer Scholarship 

Established in 2022, the Betsy Ulmer Scholarship was created to support the advancement of high school girls’ golf to which Betsy dedicated her life as a founder, coach, competitor, teacher, and mentor for girls throughout Western New York. The Betsy Ulmer Scholarship is granted annually through the Buffalo District Golf Association to a female high school senior that has played golf in high school. Applications are due by May 1st, 2027. Instructions for submitting are included in the application link above.

The BDGA Scholarship Fund would not be able to continue to award scholarships to local scholar athletes without the continued support from our generous donors.
