2022 BDGA Season Review and Awards
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo District Golf Association is pleased to complete another successful season of competitive golf in Western New York.
The 2022 Season saw a familiar face reclaim the BDGA Men's Player of the Year Award. Billy Hanes of Crag Burn Golf Club reclaimed the POY Title for the first time since his three year stretch from 2015 to 2017. Hanes' season included capturing the Erie County Amateur Championship, BDGA Match Play Championship, and a Runner-Up finish at the BDGA Individual Championship. Hanes capped off the 2022 season with his biggest amateur golf victory, capturing the New York State Mid-Amateur Championship, on his way to claiming his 4th Player of the Year title in the last 8 years.
The BDGA is proud to announce the remaining 2022 Player of the Year Awards: Andy Bernatovicz of River Oaks Golf Club earned the Senior Player of the Year. Bernatovicz completed the sweep of the 2022 BDGA Senior Season, capturing the BDGA Senior Match Play Championship, Low-Senior of the BDGA Individual Championship, and the BDGA Senior Championship. Also finishing as Runner-Up at the Senior Porter Cup to earn the 2022 BDGA Senior Player of the Year.
The Junior Player of the Year was awarded to Tyler Delisanti of Transit Valley Country Club. Delisanti's strong season on the WNYPGA Junior Tour and a Runner-Up finish at the Erie County Amateur Championship propelled him to the top of the BDGA Junior Points List. Delisanti's placement on the Junior Points List throughout the season earned him the opportunity to represent the BDGA at the 2022 Williamson Cup, which was hosted on August 9th by the Washington Metro. Golf Association at Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria Virginia.
Cole Jones of East Aurora Country Club earned the Sub-Junior Player of the Year. Jones won the BDGA Sub-Jr. Stroke Play Championship en route to his Sub-Junior Player of the Year Title.
