2021 BDGA SEAON REVIEW AND AWARDS
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo District Golf Association was happy to be able to get back to conducting a full schedule of events during 2021 season after the 2020 season consisted of a reduced schedule due to the restrictions of COVID-19.
Although the golf scene looked different in 2021 compared to 2020, somethings remained the same. For the second year in a row, Anthony Delisanti captured the BDGA Men's Player of the Year Award. Delisanti's season included successfully defending his BDGA Men’s Individual Championship title at Glen Oak GC by firing a 10 under-par total over 36 holes of the rain shortened event. From there he went on to claim the New York State Boys' Junior Championship and finished in 5th place at the Monroe Invitational, which eventually led to capturing his second BDGA Men's Player of the Year Award. Delisanti is no stranger to Player of the Year Awards after holding the 2020 BDGA Men's Player of the Year award, as well as the Junior Player of the Year title for both the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
The BDGA is proud to announce the remaining 2021 Player of the Year Awards: Bob Rosen of the Country Club of Buffalo earned the Senior Player of the Year, Rosen won the Erie County Senior Amateur Championship, and finished in 3rd place at the BDGA Senior Championship en route to the 2021 BDGA Senior Player of the Year.
The Junior Player of the Year was awarded to Ryan Edholm of Pendleton Creek Country Club. Edholm earned runner-up in both the BDGA Jr. Stroke Play Championship and the BDGA Jr. Match Play Championship, as well as a third place finish in the New York State Boys' Junior Championship on his way to the Junior Player of the Year Title. Edholm's placement on the Junior Points List throughout the season earned him the opportunity to represent the BDGA at the 2021 Williamson Cup, which was hosted on August 10th by the BDGA at the Country Club of Buffalo.
Jack Tebeau of Crag Burn Golf Club earned the Sub-Junior Player of the Year. Tebeau won both, the BDGA Sub-Jr. Stroke Play Championship and the BDGA Sub-Jr. Match Play Championship. Tebeau also earned medalist honors at both BDGA IJGS events this season to propel him to the top of the Sub-Junior Points List.
