2023 BDGA Season Review and Awards
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo District Golf Association is pleased to complete another successful season of competitive golf in Western New York.
The 2023 Season saw a familiar face recapture the BDGA Men's Player of the Year Award, as Billy Hanes of Crag Burn Golf Club claimed the POY title for the second straight season. Hanes' season included capturing his first BDGA Individual Championship, as well as successfully defending his New York State Mid-Amateur Championship title on the way to claiming his 5th Player of the Year Award in the last 9 years.
PJ Alterio of Niagara Falls Country Club earned the BDGA Senior Player of the Year Award. Alterio's impressive 2023 BDGA Senior Season included capturing the BDGA Senior Championship and the Erie County Senior Amateur Championship.
For the second straight season, the BDGA Junior Player of the Year was awarded to Tyler Delisanti of Transit Valley Country Club. Delisanti's victories at the BDGA Junior Match Play Championship and Erie County Junior Amateur Championship propelled him to the top of the BDGA Junior Points List. Delisanti's placement on the Junior Points List throughout the season earned him the opportunity to represent the BDGA at the 2023 Williamson Cup, which was hosted on August 13-14 by Golf Ontario at Lookout Point Country Club.
Connor Jackson of East Aurora Country Club earned the Sub-Junior Player of the Year Award. Jackson won the BDGA Sub-Jr. Stroke Play Championship and the NYS Boys' 14U Junior Amateur Championship en route to his Sub-Junior Player of the Year Title.
