Four BDGA Juniors Represent at the 58th Annual Williamson Cup
ALEXANDRIA, V.A. -- The Buffalo District Golf Association had the privilege of attending the 58th Annual Williamson Cup at Belle Haven Country Club on August 8th & 9th. The Williamson Cup was established in 1964 by A. Fred Williamson, in memory of his father, one of the original founders of the famed Winged Foot Golf Club and a long-time member of the USGA Executive Committee.
The Williamson Cup is an international junior competition that gathers 10 golf associations from the north eastern United States and Canada. Each association is represented by four junior golfers, with the best three scores counting towards the team's overall score. The Williamson Cup is awarded to the association with the lowest team total and the Medalist Trophy awarded to the player with the lowest two round total.
The attending associations for this years event included; Buffalo District Golf Association, Golf Ontario, Golf Quebec, Delaware State Golf Association, Golf Association of Philadelphia, Metropolitan Golf Association, Rochester District Golf Association, Syracuse District Golf Association, Washington Metropolitan Golf Association, and Western Pennsylvania Golf Association.
The BDGA was represented by Jack Tebeau (Crag Burn GC), Teagan Mauro (Crag Burn GC), Tyler Delisanti (Transit Valley CC) and Rocco Randazzo (Niagara Falls CC). The team finished in eighth place with a score of 43-over 475.
The Washington Metropolitan Golf Association took home the Williamson Cup after posting a team total of 6-over 438. Washington Metro was represented by Stephen Betz, Bryan Kim, Chase Nevins, and Patrick Pritsios. Kim was awarded the Individual Medalist after posting 67-72 for a total of 5-under 139.
