Just one of Edholm’s matches reached the 18th hole throughout the week, when he defeated Jacob Dantonio (Crag Burn GC) in the semifinals, two-up. Otherwise, it was a relatively drama-free tournament for Edholm, who won his first-round match, 3 & 2, before dominating his quarterfinal match, 5 & 4.
Boyes, on the other hand, won his first round match, 5 & 4, before winning the quarterfinals, 3 & 2. That set up a semifinal match against Shane Dobesh (Sheridan Park Golf Club), where Boyes won 4 & 3 to advance to the championship against Edholm.
In the Senior Division, Andy Bernatovicz (River Oaks Golf Club) emerged victorious and none of his four matches across the week spanned the entire 18 holes. In the first round, Bernatovicz defeated Perry Pedini (Transit Valley Country Club), 4 & 3, before taking down John Gaffney (Crag Burn Golf Club), 5 & 4, in the quarterfinals.
Bernatovicz would ride that momentum in the semis, where he faced Jim Sweeney (Brookfield Country Club) and won 3 & 2, which would prove to be his closest match of the week. In the championship match, Bernatovicz faced Jeffrey Schauger, who won his semifinal match in 21 holes, and beat him 7 & 6 to lay claim to the Senior trophy.
