PREVIEW: 2023 NYS MEN'S SUPER SENIOR & LEGENDS AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS AT EN-JOIE GC

ENDICOTT, N.Y. - The upcoming 27th New York State Men’s Super Senior & 1st Legends Amateur Championships will be contested at En-Joie Golf Course on August 14 – 15, 2023. A field of approximately 81 of the Empire State’s best male amateur golfers age 65+ will compete in a 36-hole stroke play competition on Monday and Tuesday in the hopes of raising the respective championship trophies. If a tie exists after 36 holes in either age division, a sudden-death playoff will determine the winner.

27th NYS Men's Super Senior Amateur (ages 65+)
1st NYS Men's Legends Amateur (ages 70+)
*This is the first year these championships are being contested seperately from the NYS Men's Senior Amateur (ages 55+), which will be in September at Yahnundasis.

Defending Champion: Robert Branham of Canasawacta CC won the 2022 championship at Springville Country Club in a sudden-death playoff over Robert DeWitt of Transit Valley Country Club, on the first hole (No. 18).

Format: 36 holes of stroke play, played over two days of competition.

Eligibility: This championship is open to male amateur golfers who meet the following requirements: Be a member of the NYSGA, defined as either (1) belonging to an NYSGA member club or (2) joining the NYSGA as a 2023 NYSGA eClub member. Players must also have a USGA Handicap Index issued by a NYSGA member club of 15.0 or less for the Super Senior Championship and at least 65 years old (and 70+ for the Legends) as of August 14, 2023.

Age Groups: 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85+

Past NYS Super Senior Champions in the field

Robert Branham, 68, of Canasawacta Country Club, won last year's title in a sudden-death playoff over Robert DeWitt at Springville CC. They both finished at 5-over par. Branham also teamed up with Kevin Webb for two NYS Men's Senior Four-Ball titles, in 2017 and 2022.

John Hamilton, 73, of Hudson National Golf Club, won the 2019 title during the rain-shortened championship at Cavalry Club. 

Perry Noun, 86, of Lake Shore Yacht & Country Club, was the champion during the 2005 championship at Vestal Hills Country Club. 

Randy Young, 75, of Bellevue Country Club, claimed the title in 2014 at Cedar Lake Club by three strokes.
