January 24, 2022

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo District Golf Association (BDGA) has partnered with the Western New York PGA (WNYPGA) to enhance the junior golf experience for our players, parents, coaches and golf courses in WNY!

Starting in 2022, junior golfers can earn points through the WNYPGA Junior Tour to represent the BDGA at the Williamson Cup. The BDGA will be eliminating the Interclub Junior Golf Series (IJGS) and will now be counting a player’s top three (3) finishes at WNYPGA Junior Tour events conducted at clubs within the BDGA region*. In addition, players will also have the opportunity to earn points towards the WNYPGA Player of the Year (POY) and the WNYPGA Tour Championship through the BDGA Junior Stroke Play Championship. The BDGA Stroke play will be considered the 4th Major Championship on the WNYPGA Junior Tour Schedule. The two organizations will also be sharing staff and volunteers for some tournaments in 2022 to make the player experience even better.

The 2022 WNYPGA Junior Tour schedule will feature eight (8) events hosted at BDGA Member Clubs as well as the opportunity to play premier clubs located outside of the BDGA territory. Registration will open on Monday, February 14th at 12:00pm. Players have the option to register as a Full Time member to participate in ten (10) events, or Part Time to participate in five (5) events. Events fill up fast so do not miss your chance to sign up for the courses you want!

The BDGA will continue to conduct 3 major junior championships; The BDGA Jr. Stroke Play Championship, BDGA Jr. Match Play Championship, and the Erie County Amateur Championship.
