NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – Three junior golfers finished at 2-under 69 to earn co-medalist honors during Friday’s U.S. Junior Amateur Sectional Qualifying Round at Yahnundasis Golf Club.

Luca Cimoroni of Canada, Ryan Hart of Buffalo (resident of Naples, Florida), and Alex Zurat of Victor will advance to the U.S. Junior Amateur. The USGA-conducted championship will be contested July 15-20 at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.

Today's event marked the first time Cimoroni had attempted to qualify for the U.S. Junior Am. "I just thought it was a great opportunity, fun to get there for the first time. Did not expect this, but played a great round," Cimoroni said.

Zurat, led the field after nine holes at 3-under, and avoided errors coming in to keep his score in red numbers.

"I played pretty solid on the front and was in scramble mode in the back. I was a little choked up, but I think I played solid overall. I don't think it was mine to lose. At that point I was just trying to go to four, to five," Zurat said.

Tee-times were delayed an hour due to forecasted rain. Hart, son of PGA Tour player Dudley Hart, spoke about how he approached the course differently due to the weather. “The course was wet obviously, but I worked around it. I really didn’t hit any full shots today, all punch shots keep it low into the wind," Hart said.

2015 NYS Boys' Sub-Junior champion, Jeremy Summerson of Victor, shot a one-over 72 to secure the first alternate spot. Mikael Pageau of Canada carded a two-over 73 to secure the second and final alternate spot.

Yahnundasis Golf Club played to a par of 71 and 6,841 yards for the field of 75 competitors.
