The U.S. Junior Amateur consists of 36 holes of stroke play on July 24 and 25, after which the 264-player field will be reduced to the low 64 scorers. There will be six rounds of match play, starting July 26. The quarterfinals and semifinals are slated for Friday, July 28. The championship is scheduled to conclude with a 36-hole final on Saturday, July 29. The U.S. Junior Amateur champion receives a full exemption into the 2024 U.S. Open Championship.
The Beresford Creek Course, at Daniel Island Club, will be set up 7,029 yards and play to a par of 36-35-71. The Ralston Creek Course will be set up at 7,351 yards and play to a par of 36-36-72.
Four of the six qualifiers from the Empire State all qualified at the Teugega Country Club Qualifier in Rome, New York. The two players who were able to secure spots were Theo Boris, who was the top qualifier at Teugega, and Connor Kiel who both finished under-par. For the final spot, there was a playoff with three players who all shot even on their rounds. The playoff included Tyler Berkamn, the eventual winner of the playoff, and first alternate Owen Corby.
Even though Corby was the first alternate, with a withdrawal from another player from the Amateur, it had left a spot open for Owen Corby to play in the 75th edition of the championship. Corby was the last golfer to be added to the field of 264 players and had arrived in South Carolina just 26 minutes before his tee time after his clubs were lost in North Carolina.
The other two qualifiers were Josh Yan and James Bradely who both qualified at the Pelham Country club in Pelham Manor. Yan secured the top qualifying spot at Pelham where he shot 3-under on his round. James Bradely also secured a spot after he had finished 1-over and had to win in a 4-man playoff for only 2 spots. Bradley was able to hang on and secure one of the two spots remaining.
