NYSGA Welcomes Ackley as New Manager of Course Rating
JAMESVILLE, N.Y. -- The New York State Golf Association (NYSGA) has hired Mark Ackley as the new Manager of Course Rating.
In this role, he will oversee the various regional volunteer teams across the NYSGA’s territory and coordinate course ratings at member and non-member clubs throughout each season.
Ackley brings nearly forty years of experience in project management, information technology, business development and organizational leadership to the association. Most recently, he was a Senior Global Program Manager for Corning, Inc. before retiring last May. He was also a volunteer at Watkins Glen International for over 20 years, assisting their marketing and public relations departments, while also helping to recruit and train new volunteers for major race events.
“We feel Mark’s experience has uniquely prepared him to take the reins of our Course Rating program,” said Bill Moore, NYSGA Executive Director. “His proven success in organizational leadership, team building and volunteer recruitment will translate well into the guidance and oversight of our regional teams.”
A native of Horseheads, Ackley first began playing golf at the age of 10, and has maintained his passion for the game throughout his life.
“As a lifelong golfer, I have admired the work of the NYSGA for many years,” shared Ackley. “I am very honored to be given this responsibility and look forward to working with the entire NYSGA team, continuing to enhance the experience for member clubs and golfers via the course rating and measuring services.”
Ackley will assume his role with the association beginning in the middle of April.
