(UPDATE JUNE 3) -- Two out of three NYS players made the 36-hole cut at the 77th U.S. Women’s Open Championship. Amateur Bailey Shoemaker and Annie Park will both be playing this weekend after the field was trimmed to the low 70.

Shoemaker is one of only four amateurs who will be playing this weekend. She posted an impressive first round 1-over 72. She birdied her first hole of the tournament and soared up the leaderboard with an eagle on #10, but a slow finish to her first round dropped her back in the pack.

The second round for Shoemaker could be described by one word, consistency. She started the day with 10 straight pars before birdies on #1 and #3 (Shoemaker started on #9). a bogey on #5 dropped her to 1-under, where she finished the day after matching par on her last three holes.

Shoemaker's even par was more than enough to secure her a spot going into the weekend. She will tee off for round three at 11:21 a.m. on Saturday (all times in EDT).

Annie Park was the other Empire State player to make the cut. She posted a 2-under 69 in round one, but six straight bogeys in round two dropped her to 1-over going into the weekend.

Park will tee off at 9:42 a.m. on saturday, 10 strokes off the lead.

Melanie Green, the other NYS amateur in the field, missed the cut and finished at 12-over 76-78.
