We are highlighting the achievements of New York golfers as they make an impact at events across the country and beyond. From amateurs to professionals, these players continue to represent the Empire State with impressive performances on some of the sport’s biggest stages! 

August

• Seven New Yorkers Compete at Olympic Club for U.S. Amateur
  The group included 2025 NYS Men's Am champion Anthony Delisanti, along with Tim Hegarty, Philip Minnehan, Dean Muratore, Luke Sample, Jackson Saroney, and Alex Zurat. None of the group was able to advance through the 36 holes of stroke play qualifying in California. Results 
  
  
• Derek Bard Finishes T13 at Korn Ferry Tour's Utah Championship 
  The New Hartford native who turned pro in 2017 has played in 11 tour events this season, with his best finish coming at the Utah Championship in early August. View Profile
  
  
• Melanie Green Secures LPGA Tour Card After Finishing As No. 1 in Epson Tour's Points Ranking
  The Medina native secured her card for the 2026 LPGA Tour with one win and eight top-ten finishes during her rookie season on the Epson Tour. View profile
  
  
• Hayden Knapp and Jordan Levitt Competing at 125th U.S. Women's Amateur at Bandon Dunes
  The two past NYSGA champions qualified for this year's national championship in Oregon. Knapp secured an exemption with her NYS Women's Amateur victory last month at St. George's G&CC. Leaderboard
  
  
• Ten Girls Compete in 2025 Junior PGA Girls' Championship in Indiana
  The group included 2025 NYS Women's Am champion Hayden Knapp, past NYS Girls' 18U champion Sophia Li and 14U champion Alexa Phung, along with Delaney Abel, Maddie Chang, Caylin Wong, Yasmina Oralkhan, Sienna Wheeler, and Kamryn Yerman. • Seven NYS Juniors Tee it Up at 2025 Junior PGA Championship in Indiana
  The group included 2025 NYS Junior champion Liam Moloney, Jackson Ormond, Thomas Goodelle, Francisco Cupp, Danny Wehle, Braeden Lee and Braydon Thomas. Maloney and Ormond made the 54-hole cut to advance into the final round. Full results
  
  
• Cameron Young Claims First PGA Tour Title at 2025 Wyndham Championship
  The 28-year-old from Scarborough won his first title on the tour by six strokes (22-under par) at Sedgefield CC in North Carolina. Read Article

• Saroney Wins SDGA Match Play at Drumlins, Bove Wins Gerry Ashe Memorial at Timber Banks

• Yarnall Wins BDGA Women's Individual, Cupp Captures Women's AIM for Sixth Time
  Gwendolyn Yarnall claimed the BDGA Women's title, while past NYS Women's Mid-Am champion Lauren Cupp won the AIM championship in Syracuse for the sixth time. Women's Schedule/Results
  
  
• Several Empire Staters Competing at Monroe Invitational in Rochester
  The prestigious invitational held at Monroe GC in Rochester hosted several players from the state against national competition. The field included past NYS Men's Am champions Aiden Spampinato, Kyle Downey, Charlie Berridge among some others. Leaderboard
  
  
• Christian Cavaliere Wins New York State Open at Bethpage Black
  The amateur out of Hudson National claimed the state open title over 54 holes, finishing at 2-under par and then won in a playoff over Pete Ballo. Leaderboard
  
  
• Three NYS Players Compete at U.S. Junior Amateur in Dallas
  Edward Molloy of Rye, Dean Muratore of Long Island, and Jackson Ormond of Rochester represented the state at the U.S. Junior Amateur at Trinity Forest. Liam Moloney earned an exemption by winning the NYS Boys' 18U, but was unable to accept due to a conflict with a prior commitment. • David Hanes Wins BDGA Individual, Aiden Spampinato Reclaims RDGA Amateur Titles

• Luke Sample Monday Qualifies for NV5 Invitational on Korn Ferry Tour, Joins Delisanti As Only Amateurs in Field
  The Duke graduate and former multi-time NYS Junior Am champion qualified for his first Korn Ferry Tour event this month as an amateur. He is joined by another NYSGA champ, Anthony Delisanti who received a sponsors exemption. Read article.
  
  

• Four NYS Players Compete at U.S. Girls’ Junior in Atlanta
  A quartet of junior girls represented the Empire State at this year’s U.S. Girls’ Junior including NYS Girls’ Junior champion and runner-up Amelie and Alexa Phung of Forest Hills, along with Jordan Levitt of Bedford, along with Maddie Chang of NYC. Final Results

• Jonathan Weinberg of NYC Wins Met Junior in Final Match Over Brother
  The Duke University commit defeated his brother Alexander at Southampton GC, 1 up, in the final match. Recap story.
  
  
• John Hiller Finishes T-6 at Porter Cup in Buffalo
  The 2025 NYS Men's Amateur runner-up out of Westchester CC, finished tied for sixth at this year's Porter Cup at Niagara Falls CC. Final Results
  
  
• Mike Rothberg Wins Westchester Amateur, Joseph Dolezal Claims Long Island Amateur

• Tyler Mackenzie Claims Long Island Women's Amateur title
  The player out of The Rock Club won the title at Bethpage State Park's Blue Course with twin 70s to win by five strokes. Results
  
  
• Emily Ferguson Wins the Women's Rochester District Match Play Title
  The player defeated Reagan Paolini in the final match, 2&1 at the Country Club of Rochester. Bracket
  
  
• Ricky Reilly of Syracuse Finishes in Top 20 at U.S. Adaptive Open
  The Syracuse area player shot 8-over 224 (75-76-73) at the national open to finish inside the top 20 overall. Final Results
  
  
• Jackson Saroney & Dean Muratore Co-Medal U.S. Amateur Final Qualifying at Whippoorwill
  The two NYS standout golfers fired 5-under 65s at the New York State golf course to share co-medal honors and lead a group of 9 total to the national event. Joining them from NYS is Alex Zurat and Timothy Hegarty. Final Results

• Kevin Roy Fires Course Record at PGA Tour's Rocket Mortgage Classic
  The Syracuse native and tour player shot a course record 62 to share the first-round lead with Aldrich Potgieter. Recap story.
  
  
• Tanner LaTorre Wins 2025 International Junior Masters Tournament
  The defending NYS Boys' 14U Junior champion claimed the prestigious junior title at East Aurora CC in Buffalo. Learn more.
  
  
• Kennedy Swedick Wins Women's Open of Virginia
  The former NYS Women's Am champion won the third-annual open title, finishing at 3-over par at Farmington CC. Recap story.
  
  

• Olivia Deakins Claims Women’s Met Amateur Title at Sunningdale
  The player from Ardsley CC made history and finished as the lone player in red figures. Recap story.

• Kellen Dean Qualifies for Korn Ferry Tour’s Wichita Open
  The 2023 NYS Junior Amateur champion qualified for his first pro event during a collegiate event that he won during his freshman season at Xavier University. Times Union article.

• Melanie Green Wins First Pro Event at Epson Tour's Island Resort Championship
  The Epson Tour rookie and recent graduate of FIU finished at 14-under par to win her first pro event in Michigan. Final Results
  
  

• Anthony Delisanti Competes at Sunnehanna
  The former NYS Junior Am champion is competing in the Sunnehanna and finished T32. Final Results

• Nicholas Makes 36-hole Cut at First U.S. Open After Strong Start
  Both players ended up playing the weekend at Oakmont, with Nicholas at T61 while Young finished inside the top 10. Final results.

• Choe / Saroney win NYSPHSAA Titles
  Syracuse's Jackson Saroney fired 10-under over 36 holes at Mendon GC. NYC’s Nina Choe was the only player under par both days to win by seven strokes at Wild Wood CC.

• Kevin Roy Finishes Top-20 at Canadian Open
  The Syracuse native shot a 64 on Saturday and finished T18. It marks his fifth Top 25 finish this season on tour. Final leaderboard.

• James Nicholas Qualifies for 2025 U.S. Open, Cameron Young Gets in at 5-for-1 Playoff
  Nicholas was medalist in NJ to qualify for his first U.S. Open, while Young advanced during a 5-for-1 playoff in a different qualifier. Qualifying results.
