(Update 9/23) - Aliea Clark finished as runner-up at the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur for a second year in a row. She faced Krissy Carmen of Oregon in the 18-hole finale and lost 2 and 1. Clark held the advantage twice during the match. She won the opening hole with a par and was up until the fourth hole. On the seventh hole, Carman made a birdie to take her first lead. Clark fought back winning the next two holes (Nos. 8 and 9) to grab a lead again, but Carman won holes 11, 15 and 17 to claim the title.

(Update 9/22) - Ina Kim-Schaad and Aliea Clark faced eachother in the Round of 16 at the 35th U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur. Clark, the 2021 runner-up topped the 2019 champion by a margin of 5 and 3.

Clark then won in the quarterfinals against Jacqueline Setas of Michigan in 19 holes, and in the seminfials 1 up over Isabella DiLisio of Pa.

(Update 9/21) - All three NYC residents won their Round of 64 matches. Ina Kim-Schaad defeated Tara Bateman of Arizona 3 and 2. Aliea Clark topped Sarah Salvo of Utah, 3 and 1, while Talia Campbell defeated Connie Isler of Nevada by a margin of 6 and 5.

In the Round of 32, 2019 champion Kim-Schaad outlasted Heather Wall of Florida in 20 holes. Clark defeated Lauren Greenlief of Virginia, 3 and 2. Campbell lost in 19 holes to Kate Scarpetta of Pa.

(Update 9/19) - Three from New York advanced through the stroke play qualifying at the 35th U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur. 

Ina Kim-Schaad led the way with 4-over 148 (75-73) to earn the 22nd seed, followed by 27th seed Aliea Clark at 149 after following up a 78 with a 71 in the second round. Talia Campbell finished the stroke play rounds at 151 to earn the 34th seed.

Christy Schultz failed to advance out of a 14-for-9 playoff for the final spots into the Round of 64. The cut line fell at +11.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Four players from the Empire State will compete at Fiddlesticks Country Club for the 35th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

A starting field of 132 players will begin stroke play on Saturday, September 17 with 18 holes followed by another round on Sunday. After 36 holes, the field will be reduced to the low 64 scorers heading into the first day of match play on Monday, September 19. The championship will conclude with an 18-hole final match on Thursday, September 22.

The representatives include Talia Campbell, Aliea Clark and Ina Kim-Schaad, all residents of NYC, and Rochester's Christy Schultz.

All four from NYS also competed in the 2021 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship hosted at Berkeley Hall Club’s North Course in Bluffton, South Carolina.

Campbell earned full exemption into the championship due to her runner-up finish in 2019 against fellow NYC resident Ina Kim-Schaad. Campbell is originally from Texas. She advanced to the Round of 16 in the 2021 championship.

Clark also earned an exemption from her runner-up finish in 2021 (she made the finals as the 64th seed). Clark is originally from California and played college golf at UCLA, and NYU. She was exempt into the 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur at Chambers Bay, where she advanced to match play.

Kim-Schaad won the 2019 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship at Forest Highlands Golf Club in Flagstaff, Arizona. She was exempt again in 2022, and advanced to the semifinals during her defense in 2021. Kim-Schaad is originally from California and was a U.S. Girl’s Junior runner-up in 2000. She took a 11-year hiatus from competitive golf before returning in 2016. Since then, she’s won the Women’s Met Amateur title three times, was WMGA Player of the Year in 2019, and competed in the 2020 U.S. Women’s Open, along with the 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur. 

Schultz qualified for this year’s championship at Portage Country Club in Akron, Ohio. The Oak Hill Country Club member is a nine-time NYSGA champion and claimed the last two NYS Women’s Mid-Amateur titles in 2021 and 2022 (first won the inaugural in 2009 and again in ’10) in a recent return to competitive golf. She won the NYS Women’s Amateur three times in 2004, ’07-’08, and back-to-back NYS Girls’ Junior titles in 1996-97. 

Fiddlesticks Country Club’s Long Mean Course will be set up at 6,199 yards and will play to a par of 36-36--72.
