Christensen, who resides in Coral Springs, Fla., garnered medalist honors a year after finishing as one of two alternates in the 2024 sectional qualifier. She turned in a score of 9-over 80 that included ten pars. This summer, Christensen has finished top-20 in the Florida State Golf Association’s (FSGA) Women’s Senior Amateur Championship, top-ten in the FSGA Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship and most recently reached the quarterfinals of the FSGA Women’s Senior Amateur Match Play Championship. She also finished T-2 in the 2024 PGA National Club Championship.
Kaul, a Colden native and seven-time New York State champion, grabbed the second qualifying spot available with an 81 (+10). She rolled in three birdies on the round and will look to make the cut for a fourth time U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur career. She’s won the NYS Senior Women’s Amateur three times (2008, 2015, 2021) and already has another trophy under her belt this season; winning her third NYS Senior Women’s Four-Ball title in four years alongside her partner, Janice Lavigne, at Leatherstocking GC in May.
The two now have their sights set on The Omni Homestead Resort’s Cascades Course in Hot Springs, Va., where the 63rd U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship will be contested from Sept. 13-18.
Carolyn Mancini of Endicott earned the first alternate spot, carding an 82, while Syracuse's Teresa Cleland grabbed the second alternate position with an 83.
