Australia's Justin Warren Leads U.S. Open Locals at CC of Troy
TROY, N.Y. -- Local qualifying for the 123rd U.S. Open Championship was conducted by the New York State Golf Association at the Country Club of Troy on Monday.
Eighty-four players competed for five qualifying places and two alternate positions into the sectional qualifying stage of this year's championship, which will be hosted at The Los Angeles Country Club in Los Angeles, California, June 15-18.

Justin Warren of Australia was the qualifying medalist, finishing with an impressive 4-under 67 that included six birdies. He capped off the impressive round with a 30-footer on the Walter Travis layout’s 18th hole.
Matthew Dobyns of Jericho finished at 3-under 68. He finished strong with birdies on two of the last three holes to secure his qualifying spot.
Canada’s Joshua Montgomery finished at 69 and collected a total of five birdies, including one on the final hole.
William Frodigh of Massachusetts got off to a fast start with four birdies on the first six holes at Troy. He then dropped three strokes throughout the remainder of the golf course to post a 1-under 70 and secure his invitation.
Max Theodorakis of Connecticut was even par entering the final hole and left himself with a tap-in birdie to secure the final qualifying position at 1-under.
The first alternate is Chris Fancoeur of Massachusetts. The second alternate is Casey Pyne of Connecticut.
The golf course setup at 6,662 yards and played to a par of 71.
