2020 NYSGA Championship Schedule Released
JAMESVILLE, N.Y. – The New York State Golf Association (NYSGA) is pleased to announce the official New York State amateur championship schedule for the upcoming 2020 golf season.
The NYSGA annually conducts 17 state championships, hosted by 9 member clubs around the Empire State.

The 98th edition of the NYSGA’s flagship tournament, the NYS Men’s Amateur Championship, will be contested at Onondaga Golf & Country Club in Fayetteville, August 11-13. Established in 1898 and designed by Walter Travis, this classic facility has offered its venue for ten state championships over the decades, including other Men’s Amateur tournaments in 1940 and 1961, Women’s Amateurs in 1937, 1948 and 1949, a Men’s Mid-Amateur in 2013, the Women’s Senior Amateur in 1989, and Men’s Senior Amateurs in 1940, 1983 and most recently in 2015.
The 91st NYS Women’s Amateur & 12th Mid-Amateur Championships, will be hosted by another classic design in upstate New York, Teugega Country Club in Rome, June 29 - July 1. This Donald Ross gem, established in 1899 has hosted numerous state events including the Women’s Amateur in 1978, the Men’s Mid-Amateur in 2003 and 2014, the Girls’ Junior in 1965, 1974 and 1984, the Boys’ Junior & Sub-Junior in 1987, the Men’s Senior Amateur in 1990, Women’s Senior Amateur in 1962, and most recently an Amateur & Senior Amateur Mixed Team in 2018.
For the fifth consecutive year, Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton will once again home the 2020 NYS Boys’ & Girls’ Junior Amateur Championships, July 20 - 22. The Colgate University course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. in the late 1950’s, has hosted its share of NYS championships over the decades including two Men’s Amateurs in 1993 and 2001, the Women’s Amateur in 1983, the Girls’ Juniors in 1967, 1975, and 1988, and the Boys’ Junior & Sub-Junior in 1971 and 1978 before the three junior championships were combined in 1998. The course has hosted nineteen state junior tournaments between the three divisions since 1967.
The 37th NYS Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship is headed down to the south shore of Long Island’s Seawane Club in Hewlett, October 2-4. This will be the tournament’s first time being contested at a club south of Dutchess County. This will serve as the 1927 Devereux Emmet layout’s inaugural state championship event.
Newburgh’s Powelton Club will hold the 64th NYS Men’s Senior Amateur & Super Senior Amateur Championships, September 15-17. The Devereux Emmet course established in 1882, hosted the Senior tournament in 2002 and 2007.
The 68th NYS Women’s Senior Amateur & Super Senior Amateur Championships will be welcomed by Pinehaven Country Club in Guilderland, August 25-26. The course, located in the historic Pine Bush area of Albany County, was established in 1960. This will be their second time hosting this championship, with the inaugural taking place in 1991. In addition, the venue hosted NYS Men’s Amateurs in 1998 and 2008, and a Women’s Amateur in 2002.
The 10th NYS Men’s Amateur & 9th Senior Amateur Four-Ball Championships will return to Leatherstocking Golf Course in Cooperstown, May 17-18, for a seventh consecutive year. The venerable 1909 Devereux Emmet design hosted a Men’s Amateur in 1964, the Women’s Amateur in 1958 and 1962, a Men’s Mid-Amateur in 2001, and a Men’s Senior in 1972.
Cicero’s Lakeshore Yacht & Country Club will host the 3rd NYS Women’s Amateur & Senior Amateur Four-Ball Championships on August 3. The course on the shores of Oneida lake, was built in 1928 and hosted the Men’s Amateur in 1949, the Boys’ Junior in 1939, the Girls’ Junior in 1964, the Men’s Senior Amateur in 1949, as well as a Women’s Senior in 1965.
Finally, the 8th NYS Amateur & Senior Amateur Mixed Team Championships will head to Rochester’s Brook-Lea Country Club on June 22. The Donald Ross layout designed in 1926 hosted the Women’s Amateur in 1986 and the Men’s Amateur in 1991.
