February 15, 2024

JAMESVILLE, N.Y. -- The New York State Golf Association (NYSGA) is pleased to announce the full New York State Amateur Golf Championship schedule for the upcoming 2024 season!

The NYSGA now annually conducts 20 state championships, hosted by top member clubs throughout the Empire State.

A few very exciting changes are coming to the 2024 schedule, including new USGA Championship exemptions that will be awarded to four of our NYSGA champions: NYS Men's Am (U.S. Am), NYS Women's Am (U.S. Women's Am), NYS Boys' 18U Junior (U.S. Junior) & NYS Girls' Junior (U.S. Girls' Junior).

In addition, this year’s NYS Women's Amateur & Senior Amateur Four-Ball will shift from 18 holes to a 36-hole format, played over two days of competition. The 2024 NYS Boys' & Girls' 14U Junior Amateur Championships (36-hole) will be hosted at a separate site from the 18U championships (54-hole) for the first time.

The 101st edition of the NYSGA’s flagship tournament, the NYS Men’s Amateur Championship, will be contested at Wanakah Country Club in Hamburg, July 9-11. The historic buffalo area club established in 1899, was designed by Willie Watson, and fully renovated by CW Golf Architecture in 2017. This year’s championship will mark Wanakah’s third time as host (1981, 1999). They’ve also previously hosted a Boys’ Junior and Sub-Junior in 1957, and most recently a Men’s Mid-Amateur in 2018. The club membership is celebrating their 125th anniversary in 2024.

The 94th NYS Women’s Amateur & 15th Mid-Amateur Championships will be hosted by Skaneateles Country Club in Skaneateles, July 15-16. The lakeside venue, founded in 1915 and laid out by Hal Purdy, has previously hosted the Men’s Senior in 1977, and the Boys’ & Girls’ Juniors in 2009 and 2013, along with the first four Amateur Mixed Teams from 2015-2018.

The 82nd NYS Boys’ & 61st Girls’ Junior 18U Amateur Championships will be split off from the 14U championships for the first time in 2023. This year’s 18 & under host site will be the Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, July 2-3. The Brian Silva & Mark Mungeam design opened in 1994 and sits along the banks of the Susquehanna River. The Southern Tier public facility has only hosted one prior NYSGA championship, the Men’s Amateur in 1996.

The 67th NYS Boys’ & 2nd Girls’ 14U Amateur Championships will be contested at Green Lakes State Park Golf Course in Fayetteville, August 15-16. The New York State Park owned layout was opened in 1936, and laid out by a young Robert Trent Jones, Sr. It was one of his earliest designs, and has become known for its rolling hills and unique, undulated terrain. This will be the public golf facility's first time hosting a NYSGA championship.

The 40th NYS Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship will be hosted by Schuyler Meadows Club in Loudonville, September 27-29. Established in 1927 and designed by Devereux Emmet, this classic Capital Region facility has offered its venue for several state championships over the decades, including a Boys’ Junior in 1938, Women's Amateurs in 1955, 1976 and 2017 (which included the Mid-Am), along with two recent Men's Amateurs in 2013, 2021.

The 67th NYS Men’s Senior Amateur Championship will be hosted by the Southern Tier’s Corning Country Club in Corning, September 10-11. The 1919 Thomas Winston design has supported several other New York State championships through the decades, including the Women’s Amateur three times in 1965, 1975 and 2023 (which included the Mid-Am), one prior Men’s Senior in 1982, Girl’s Junior in 1989 and the Women’s Senior & Super Senior in 2017. The club was formerly the host site of the LPGA Tour’s Corning Classic from 1979-2009.

The 28th NYS Men’s Super Senior & 2nd Legends Amateur Championships will head to Western NY’s Crag Burn Golf Club in East Aurora, July 30-31. This Robert Trent Jones, Sr. masterpiece, built in 1972, has opened its arms to the Men’s Mid-Am four times in 1986, 1999, 2010 and 2023. The club has also recently hosted the 2019 NYS Men’s Amateur and the NYS Men’s Senior & Super Senior Amateur in 2017 (before the senior and super senior were separated and legends added in 2023).

The 71st NYS Women’s Senior Amateur & 17th Super Senior Amateur Championships will be hosted by Rochester's Ontario Golf Club in Ontario, August 20-21. The 1928 Geoffrey Cornish design has previously hosted the Boys' Junior & Sub-Junior in 1989, Men's Senior in 1991, Men's Mid-Am in 1995, Women's Amateur in 2000, a Men's Amateur in 2005, and most recently the Women's Senior & Super Senior in 2010.

The 13th NYS Men’s Amateur, 12th Senior Amateur & 2nd Super Senior Amateur Four-Ball Championships will return to the award-winning golf courses at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, May 19-20. For a second consecutive year, we will be utilizing Shenendoah Golf Club designed by Rick Smith and Kaluhyat Golf Club designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. The three championship fields will play one competitive round on each golf course. Kaluhyat previously hosted the 2015 NYS Men’s Amateur, and Shenendoah was the venue for the 2006 PGA National Club Professional Championship in 2006.

The 6th NYS Women’s Amateur & Senior Amateur Four-Ball Championships will be held at Leatherstocking Golf Course at the Otesaga Resort in Cooperstown from June 3-4. The classic 1909 Devereux Emmet design hosted the Men’s Four-Ball nine years in a row from 2013-2022, along with two Women’s Amateurs in 1958 and 1962, Men’s Amateur in 1964, Men’s Senior in 1972, and a Men’s Mid-Amateur in 2001. Most recently, the gorgeous lakeside course hosted the NYS Amateur & Senior Amateur Mixed Team in 2023. New this year, the format will be shifted from 18 holes to 36 holes of four-ball stroke play.

The 11th NYS Amateur & Senior Amateur Mixed Team Championships will be hosted by Stafford Country Club in Stafford on July 22.The greater Rochester area course was built in 1921 and is a fantastic Walter Travis design. The club has previously hosted a Girls' Junior in 1966, the Boys' Junior and Sub-Junior Amateurs in 1975 and 1981, a Women’s Amateur in 1993, the Men’s Senior Amateur in 1988, 1999, and 2009, a Men's Mid-Amateur in 2016, and most recently the Women's Four-Ball (including Senior) in 2022.
