Three New Yorkers Qualify for 60th U.S. Senior Women's Amateur
MARCELLUS, N.Y. -- Three New York State natives have qualified for the 60th U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship. Teresa Cleland, of Syracuse, Carolyn Mancini, of Endicott, and Kim Kaul, of Buffalo, all punched their tickets to play for the title.

The New York State Golf Association held sectional qualifying at Tuscarora Golf Club in Marcellus, N.Y. on Wednesday. A field of 12 players competed for three qualifying places and two alternate places in this year’s championship at Anchorage Golf Club in Anchorage, Alaska.
Cleland, of Bellevue Country Club, was the qualifying medalist, posting a 4-over 76. She will be making her 11th appearance in the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur (2009-14, 2016-17, 2019, 2021).
Cleland is also a seven-time New York State champion with three women’s mid-amateurs, two women’s senior amateurs, and two women’s senior amateur four-ball titles.
A playoff on the par-four first hole was needed to decide the last two qualifying spots between Mancini, of Binghamton Country Club; Kaul, of East Aurora Country Club; and Pennie Carlo, of Crestwood Golf Club.
Carlo made double-bogey and fell to the first alternate spot. Kaul made par to qualify in the second spot, and Mancini made bogey to secure the third third and final qualifying spot.
Lisa Fern-Boros, of Shelton, Conn., grabbed the second alternate spot with a 7-over 79.
The U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur will take place from July 30 to August 4, 2022.
