The pair opened with two birdies to go up two, but Talley / Lim fought back to tie heading into the back 9. The battle remained deadlocked until No. 14, when Talley / Lim exploded for three straigth birdies to close out the 3 and 1 victory on the 17th hole.

Talley / Lim will face a pairing of Savannah Cherry / Lauren Slatton in a semi-final match Wednesday morning at Oak Hills. The other semi-final match will consist of Melanie Walker / Sydney Hackett and Brynn Kourt / Gracie McGovern.

UPDATE 5/14 -- After carding a 67-69 (-6) in stroke play, the side of Kennedy Swedick / Angelina Kim entered the Round of 32 as the 19th seed.

The team faced off against Jenna Kim / Saia Rampersaud, advancing to the Round of 16 with a 3 and 2 victory on Monday.

After dropping the first hole, the team of Swedick / Kim took four of the next 11, closing out the match on the 16th hole. The pair caught fire as they neared the turn, winning holes 7, 10 and 12, and cranking up the pressure for Kim / Sampersaud down the stretch.

Swedick / Kim teed off early Tuesday morning in their Round of 16 matchup against Addie Baggarly / Kendall Griffin. After a slow start, the pair found themselves down three heading into the 11th hole. Needing a dramatic effort, they took four of the next seven holes to tie the match and force a playoff. Baggarly / Kendall bogeyed the 19th, and the comeback was complete.

Swedick / Kim will look to keep the magic going Tuesday afternoon in a Quarterfinal matchup against the sixth-ranked tandem of Asterisk Talley / Sarah Lim.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- One junior golfer from New York State is competing in the 9th U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball championship, May 11-15, at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.

Kennedy Swedick of Albany is making her first appearance in the national championship with teammate Angelina Kim representing Tenafly, New Jersey.

The duo qualified for this year’s championship last September out of Torrington Country Club in Goshen, Connecticut, while capturing the only qualifying spot after shooting 66.

This was their second attempt at qualifying together. Two years ago, they just missed the qualifying after they finished as the first alternate team in a New Jersey qualifier during the fall of 2022.

Swedick, 17, won the 2022 NYS Women’s Amateur Championship, advanced to the Sweet 16 at the 2023 US Girls’ Junior (she also played in 2022), and was a semifinalist in last year’s Women’s Western Junior. She’s currently a senior at Albany Academy and signed to play college golf at University of Virginia in the fall. She was also selected as one of the inaugural U.S. National Development Program Grant Recipients in 2024.

Oak Hills Country Club is a 1922 A.W. Tillinghast design, and will be set up at 6,276 yards and play to a par of 71.

The starting field consists of 64 sides (128 golfers), who will compete over 36 holes of stroke play, after which a cut will be made to the low 32 sides for match play. Five 18-hole rounds of match play will follow to determine a champion. The semifinal and championship matches will be contested on Wednesday, May 15.
