The U.S. Junior Amateur will consist of 36 holes of stroke play on July 22 and 23, after which the low 64 scorers will advance to the match play bracket. Six rounds of match play will determine a champion, with the final match to be contested over 36 holes on July 27. The U.S. Junior Amateur Champion receives a full exemption to the 2025 U.S. Open Championship at Oakmont Country Club.

The South Course at Oakland Hills Country Club will host both the stroke and match play brackets and will measure 7,303 yards to a total par of 70 (35-35). The North Course will serve as the co-host for the two days of stroke play and will play at 6,808 yards to a par of 70 (35-35).

Jonathan Oakes is the only New York player to have earned an exemption into the field. His eight stroke victory at NYS 18U Junior Boys’ Amateur Championship at the Links at Hiawatha Landing punched his ticket to Oakland Hills.

Two of the six New Yorkers in the field qualified via sectional qualifying at Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton, New York. Brody Burgess and Josh Yan each fired a 71 and grabbed the final two spots in a two-for-four playoff with the eventual alternates, Theo Desroches and Jayson Ross of Canada. Hunter Stetson of Pennsylvania and Wlliam Ma of California earned the first two qualifying positions at Seven Oaks after shooting 69 (-3) and 70 (-2) respectively.

Two more players  - Michael McConie and Owen Jessop - earned their spot at Oakland Hills through sectional qualifying conducted at Southampton Golf Club. Mcconnie and Jessop were two of four players to qualify at the Metropolitan Golf Association-conducted qualifier in the Hamptons. Mcconie shot a 67 (-3) and Jessop a 68 (-2) to receive their invitations.

Owen Corby finished as the qualifying medalist at the Gold Mountain Golf Club qualifier in Bremerton, Washington. The runner-up at this year’s NYS Boys’ Junior Amateur turned in a 69 (-3) to earn his spot in the field at this year’s U.S. Junior.

Corby and Yan are the only New Yorkers in the field who have experience at a U.S. Junior. They both qualified for last year’s tournament at the Daniel Island Club in Charleston, South Carolina, where each missed the stroke play cut. Yan finished at thee over across the two rounds and missed advancing to match play by a single stroke.
