Shoemaker & Zhang Recognized by AJGA All-America Teams

BRASELTON, G.A. – The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) recently announced their Rolex Junior All-America Teams for the 2021 season. This list annually recognizes the world’s premier junior golfers, who distinguish themselves through exceptional play in 108 national junior golf events. 

Two of New York State’s top junior players were recognized among a class that includes 48 boys and 48 girls, ages 14-19, from 23 states and five countries.

Bailey Shoemaker of West Edmeston (now resides in Dade City, Florida), received Girls First Team honors. She previously was a Girls Second Team honoree in 2020. Her AJGA Ranking for the season was 3rd as of November 1st.

The 16-year-old out of Central New York claimed victories at the Sung Hyun Park Junior Championship and the Kathy Whitworth Invitational in 2021. She was selected as a member of the PING Junior Solheim Cup U.S. Team and Wyndham Cup East Team. Shoemaker won three consecutive NYS Girls’ Junior Amateurs from 2017-19.

Lily Zhang of Buffalo, received Girls Honorable Mention. Her AJGA Ranking for the season was 43rd as of November 1st. 

The 13-year-old out of Park Country Club won the TaylorMade TP5 Junior All-Star, was runner-up in the Celadon Club Junior Championship hosted by Marina Alex, and fourth in the KPMG Stacy Lewis Junior All-Star Invitational. She was the runner-up at the 2021 NYS Girls’ Junior Amateur.

The 2021 AJGA Rolex Junior Players of the Year were Nicholas Dunlap of Huntsville, Alabama and Megha Ganne of Holmdel, New Jersey. 

Dunlap, Ganne and the 2021 Rolex Junior All-America Teams will be honored virtually through a Rolex Junior All-America Awards celebration on Friday, December 3. “The Greatest Night in Junior Golf” will recognize the accomplishments and celebrate the achievements of the Rolex Junior All-America teams, Rolex Scholastic Junior All-America honorees, and Jerry Cole Sportsmanship Award recipients.

Prior to the digital event, Rolex Junior All-Americans and a field of the top 144 players in the Rolex AJGA Rankings will compete at the Rolex Tournament of Champions, November 20-25 at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
