Shoemaker Recognized On 2022 AJGA All-America Team

BRASELTON, G.A. – The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) recently announced their Rolex Junior All-America Teams for the 2022 season. This list annually recognizes the world’s premier junior golfers, who distinguish themselves through exceptional play in 108 national junior golf events. 

One of New York State’s top junior players was recognized among a class that includes 48 boys and 48 girls, ages 14-19, from 24 states and 10  countries including Canada, China, Czech Republic, Hong Kong, Mexico, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States.

Bailey Shoemaker, who grew up in West Edmeston (resides in Dade City, Florida), received Girls First Team honors for a second consecutive year. She was also a Girls Second Team honoree in 2020. Her AJGA Ranking for the season was 3rd as of November 1st.

The 17-year-old out of Central New York claimed victory at the Kathy Whitworth Invitational in 2022 (defended her title from 2021). She finished second at the Dustin Johnson World Junior, Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, Sung Hyun Park Junior Championship, along with top-20 results at the U.S. Girls' Junior and Girls Junior PGA Championship. Shoemaker won three consecutive NYS Girls’ Junior Amateurs from 2017-19.

The 2022 AJGA Rolex Junior Players of the Year were Eric Lee of Fullerton, California and Kaitlyn Schroeder of Jacksonville, Florida (partnered up with Shoemaker during 2022 U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball, where they were the runner-ups). 

Lee, Schroeder and the 2022 Rolex Junior All-America Teams will be honored through a Rolex Junior All-America Awards celebration on Saturday, November 19. “The Greatest Night in Junior Golf” will recognize the accomplishments and celebrate the achievements of the Rolex Junior All-America teams, Rolex Scholastic Junior All-America honorees, and Jerry Cole Sportsmanship Award recipients together in person for the first time since 2019.

Prior to the event, Rolex Junior All-Americans and a field of the top 144 players in the Rolex AJGA Rankings will compete at the Rolex Tournament of Champions, November 19-23 at TPC San Antonio - Canyons Course in San Antonio, Texas.
