Preview: 2026 NYS Women's Senior, Super Senior, & Legends Amateur Championships

ENDWELL, N.Y. – For the first time in 52 years, Binghamton Country Club returns to the limelight as it will host its first NYS Championship since 1974. The 73rd Women’s Senior, 19th Super Senior, and 2nd Legends Amateur championships will all be determined in Endwell August 18-19.

Defending Champions:

Ingrid Narken became the 72nd Women’s Senior champion by the skin of her teeth as she won by a single stroke last August. A final round of 77 gave Narken her second Women’s Senior title; her first came in 2023. 

In the Super Senior division, Susan Kahler birdied the tournament’s 36th hole to take the top spot from Karen Feldman. Kahler won by a single stroke for her third NYS championship, having won the Senior Am twice.

A year after claiming her first state victory at the Super Senior, Barbara Harrison became the inaugural winner of the Legends championship. Two smooth rounds of 83 made for a sizable win.

73rd Women’s Senior Amateur Championship (50+)

19th Women’s Super Senior Amateur Championship (65+)

2nd Women’s Legends Amateur Championship (70+)

Format: 36 holes of individual stroke play, gross and net. No cut. Shotgun start.

Eligibility: This championship is open to female amateur golfers who are active NYSGA Members with an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index. Golfers must meet the following age (as of August 18, 2026) and Handicap Index requirements.

Senior division. At least 50 years old* with a maximum Handicap Index of 20.0.

Super Senior division. At least 65 years old* with a maximum Handicap Index of 25.0.

Legends division. At least 70 years old* with a maximum Handicap Index of 30.0.

THE FIELD

Past Women’s Senior Champions in the Field

Kim Kaul, 68, of East Aurora Country Club, is a three time Senior Am champion having most recently won in 2021. She is a ten-time NYS winner. Kaul holds three titles at the Mid-Am, the three at the Senior Four-Ball alongside Lavigne and also won the 2022 Mixed Team with Andrew Melnyk. She finished second in last summer’s championship.

Janice Lavigne, 70, of Ravenwood Golf Club, won the 2007 Senior Am at The Whiteface Club. She also has won the 2025, 2024 and 2022 NYS Women’s Senior Amateur Four-Ball Championships. Lavigne finished T6 in last year’s Senior Amateur. 

Ingrid Narken, 63, of Thendara Golf Course, is the defending Senior Champion. She also won the tournament in 2023 at the Whiteface Club in Lake Placid. Narken is no stranger to competing in NYS events having won the Women’s Senior Four-Ball Championship twice, 2023 and 2026. 

Mary Sicard, 64, of Queensbury Country Club, has three Women’s Am titles to her name. She took home the trophy in 2016, 2017, and 2019. Sicard finished T14 in last year’s tournament and had placed in the top ten in the four previous events. 

Carina Watkins, 65, of Drumlins Golf Club, won the NYS Women’s Senior Amateur Championship at Clifton Springs Country Club in 2011. Watkins was part of the winning duo at the Women’s Senior Four-Ball in 2018 and 2019. She finished T20 last year. 

Past Women’s Super Senior Champions in the Field

Kitty Colliflower, 73, of Oak Hill Country Club, won the 2019 Super Senior at Bristol Harbour Golf Course. Colliflower finished second in last year’s Legends Am where she’ll be competing again this year.

Karen Feldman, 69, of Columbia Golf & Country Club, won the 2023 Super Senior at the Whiteface Club. She has finished runner-up in the last two tournaments. Feldman was part of the winning duo at the 2021 Women's Senior Amateur Four-Ball title with Karen Feldman at Lakeshore Y&CC.

Susan Kahler, 68, of Ballston Spa Country Club, won last year’s Super Senior Am by one stroke. Kahler has also won the Women’s Senior Am twice, in 2022 at RaNic Golf Club, and in 2013 at Wayne Hills Country Club. 

Past Women’s Legends Champions in the Field

Barbara Harrison, 72, of Oswego Country Club, became the first NYS Women’s Legends Am champion last year. She also won the 2024 Super Senior Am at Ontario Country Club with a final round of even-par. Harrison claimed a Florida State Women's Senior Amateur in 2017. 

Other NYS Champions in the Field

Bethany Bernatovicz, 59, of River Oaks Golf Club, won the Senior Mixed Team Championship earlier this month at Shaker Ridge Country Club. Bernatovicz finished T4 in last year’s Senior Am where she’ll compete again this year. 

Jamie Brown, 65, of Elm Tree Golf Course, won the Mixed Team Championship in 2023 at Leatherstocking Golf Course. Brown will compete in the Super Senior Division for the first time after not competing in last year’s championship.

Pennie Carlo, 61, of Kanon Valley Country Club, won the 2019 Women’s Four-Ball at Ravenwood Golf Course with Lauren Cupp. The duo finished second at this year’s Four-Ball. Carlo finished third in last year's Senior Am where she’ll compete this year. 

Meredith Hobika, 60, of Yahnundasis Golf Club, was part of the winning pair at the 2023 Senior Mixed Team Championship with Luke Hobika. She’ll compete in the Senior division.

Sandra Jackson, 67, of Whippoorwill Club, won the 2023 Sr Women’s Four-Ball with Ingrid Narken at Sodus Bay Heights. She finished T9 twice in the Senior Am. Jackson will make her debut in the Super Senior division. 

Patricia Mayne, 64, of Western Turnpike Golf Club, won the 2021 Women’s Senior Four-Ball with Feldman at Lakeshore Y&CC. Mayne finished T4 in last year’s Senior Am where she’ll compete again this year.

Louise-Anne Morin, 61, of McCann Golf Course, won the Senior Women’s Four-Ball earlier this year at Leatherstocking Golf Course with Ingrid Narken. She finished in ninth place at last year’s Senior Am where she’ll compete this year. 

Other Players to Watch 

Julie Hamm, 62, of Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club, has collected four top-20 finishes in the Senior Am. She placed 13th in last year’s championship. 

Deborah Enders, 70, NYSGA eClub - Central NY, placed T6 in the Super Senior division last summer. She’ll compete in the Legends division for the first time.

Madelyn Hornstein, 66, of Drumlins Golf Club, ended up in third at last year’s Super Senior Am. It was her first time competing in that division. The year prior she finished T16 at the Senior Am. Hornstein is competing in the Super Senior division. 

Grace Kuqali, 74, of Drumlins Golf Club, finished T5 at last year’s Legends Am. The year prior, she placed T12 at the Super Senior. Kuqali is competing in the Legends Division.  

Christy Malo, 54, of Park Country Club, finished T12 in the 2025 PGA National Club Championship - Senior Women. She last competed at the Senior Am in 2024; she finished T11 and won in her age group. Malo is competing in the Senior division. 

Marilyn McDermott, 66, of Tuscarora Golf Club, came in fourth at the 2025 Super Senior. She is competing in the Super Senior division.

ABOUT THE VENUE

Binghamton Country Club, is one of the first 25 golf clubs organized in the United States. Along with Wolferts Roost in Albany and Elmira Country Club, it is one of just three A.W. Tillinghast designs in upstate New York. Tillinghast is known for designing some of America’s toughest championship venues, including Bethpage State Park’s Black Course. The Club has previously hosted the 1950 Men’s Amateur, 1952 Women’s Amateur, 1950 Men’s Senior Amateur, 1961 Women’s Senior Amateur, and the 1974 Boys’ 18U & 14U Junior Amateur Championships.
