PREVIEW: 2024 NYS Boys' and Girls' 14U Junior Amateur Championship at Green Lakes

August 13, 2024

FAYETTEVILLE, N.Y. – The 67th Boys’ 14U Junior and 2nd Girls’ 14U Junior Amateur Championships will be held at Green Lakes State Park Golf Course August 15-16, 2024.

The 51 players will be split with 42 golfers competing in the Boys’ 14U and 9 competing in the Girls’ 14U. Each field will tee off for 36 holes of individual stroke play across two rounds.

This year’s tournament marks the first time Green Lakes will host a New York State championship, and the first time the 14U championships have split off from the 18U, which were played earlier this season at The Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin. The Boys 14U, formerly called the Boys' Sub-Junior, has been played concurrently with the Boys' 18U since the inaugural boys' tournament was held in 1957 at Wanakah CC.

About Green Lakes State Park Golf Course

The scenic 18-hole course tests all playing abilities. The course has deep faced bunkers and golfers rarely receive a flat lie. Errant tee shots may be costly. The New York State Park owned layout was opened in 1936, and laid out by a young Robert Trent Jones, Sr. It was one of his earliest designs, and has become known for its rolling hills and unique, undulated terrain. This will be the public golf facility's first time hosting a NYSGA championship.
