NYSGA Welcomes New Director of Marketing & Partnerships
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The New York State Golf Association (NYSGA) is pleased to announce that Dan Thompson has joined the association as the Director of Marketing & Partnerships, effective immediately.
In this newly developed role, Thompson will revamp marketing and communication efforts for the association with a strong focus on increasing digital engagement and enhancing overall stewardship to amateur golfers across the state. Additionally, he will work to develop partnerships with aligning organizations and brands to further enhance opportunities and benefits to both competitive and non-competitive member golfers. He will also act as the staff-in-charge at assigned qualifiers and Amateur Series tournaments throughout the tournament season.
“We’re definitely excited to have him back” said Andrew Hickey, Assistant Executive Director. “The experience he has gained at Hunter Mountain Resort over the past couple of years along with his familiarity with our association’s operations uniquely qualifies him for this position.”
Previously, Thompson worked at Hunter Mountain Resort in the Catskill Mountains of New York where he was responsible for an array of marketing, public relations and sales duties for the organization beginning in the Fall of 2015. More specifically, he led all digital content development, managed social media initiatives, executed special events and worked with resort partners to implement brand activations. Before heading to Hunter Mountain, he was an operations intern at the NYSGA throughout the summer/fall of 2015. Thompson earned a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management and Communication Studies at SUNY Cortland in 2015.
