JAMESVILLE, N.Y. -- The New York State Golf Association has accepted 706 entries for the 100th New York State Men’s Amateur Championship at Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, N.Y., August 7-9.

To be eligible, a player must have a Handicap Index not exceeding 8.4, and must be a member of the NYSGA, defined as either (1) belonging to an NYSGA member club or (2) joining the NYSGA as a 2023 NYSGA eClub Member.  

Sectional qualifying, played over 18 holes, will be conducted at 15 sites around New York from Saturday, June 24th to Tuesday, July 18th at the following venues:

July 9 - Links at Hiawatha (Binghamton) - 37/4
July 10 - Colonie G&CC (Albany) - 94/9
July 10 - Bethpage Yellow (Long Island) - 85/8
July 13 - Mahopac GC (Westchester) - 84/8
July 17 - Lancaster CC (Buffalo) - 69/7
July 17 - Mendon CC (Rochester) - 31/3

( ##/## denotes the number of players competing for an allocated number of qualifying spots at each site.)

No playoffs will be conducted during sectional qualifying. All players tied for the final allocated spot at a given qualifier will advance to the championship.

Players in the following categories are exempt into this year's Championship. The NYSGA reserves the right to revise any of the exemption categories. Exempt players must submit an entry prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Thursday, June 22, 2023)

• E1. Winners of the NYS Men's Amateur Championship from the last 20 years

• E2. From the 2022 NYS Men's Amateur Championship, the 20 lowest scorers and anyone tied for 20th place

• E3. Winners of the NYS Men's Mid-Amateur Championship from the last 10 years

• E4. From the 2022 NYS Men's Mid-Amateur Championship, the 10 lowest scorers and anyone tied for 10th place

• E5. Winners of the 2023 NYS Men's Amateur Four-Ball Championships

• E6. From the 2023 NYS Boys' 18U Amateur Championship, the 5 lowest scorers and ties

• E7. Winner of the 2023 NYS Boys 14U Amateur Championship

• E8. From the 2022 NYS NYS Men's Senior Amateur Championship, the 5 lowest scorers and ties

• E9. Most recent (as of August 6, 2023) winner or low amateur (*professional events) of the following regional championships:
