NYSGA Accepts Nearly 400 Entries for 38th NYS Men's Mid-Am
JAMESVILLE, N.Y. -- The New York State Golf Association has accepted 397 entries for the 38th Men's Mid-Amateur Championship at Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton, N.Y., September 23-25, 2022.

To be eligible, a player must be at least 25 years old by September 23, 2022 and have an up-to-date Handicap Index of 10.4 or less, and must be a member of the NYSGA, defined as either (1) belonging to an NYSGA member club or (2) joining the NYSGA as a 2022 NYSGA eClub Member.
Sectional Qualifying, played over 18 holes, will be conducted at sites around New York, which began on Monday, August 22 and continue through Thursday, September 22 at the following venues:
August 22 - Yahnundasis GC (Utica) - 32/7
August 22 - Binghamton CC (Binghamton) - 15/4
August 22 - Bellport GC (Long Island) - 36/8
August 27 - Malone (East) (N. Country) - 6/2
August 29 - Ballston Spa CC (Albany) - 97/22
September 2 - Tuscarora GC (Syracuse) - 51/11
September 7 - Pendleton Creek GC (Buffalo) - 36/8
September 9 - Blue Heron Hills (Rochester) - 21/4
September 12 - Powelton Club (Mid-Hudson) - 56/11
September 22 - Seven Oaks GC (Last Chance) - TBA
( ##/## denotes the number of players competing for an allocated number of qualifying spots at each site.)
No playoffs will be conducted during sectional qualifying (except for the Last Chance Qualifier). All players tied for the final allocated spot at a given qualifier will advance to the championship.
The "Last Chance Qualifier" will be held on September 22nd at Seven Oaks Golf Club. More details to follow on this qualifier.

The number of exempt players into the championship could increase based on the performance of amateurs in other regional championships and tournaments around New York State (see below).
Exemption categories for the championship are as follows:
Players in the following categories are exempt into the 2022 Championship. The NYSGA reserves the right to revise any of the exemption categories.
- E1. Winners of the NYS Men's Mid-Amateur Championship from the last 20 years.
- E2. From the 2021 NYS Men's Mid-Amateur Championship, the 20 lowest scorers and anyone tied for 20th place.
- E3. Winners of the NYS Men's Amateur Championship from the last 10 years.
- E4. From the 2022 NYS Men's Amateur Championship, any player in the low 40 & ties.
- E5. Winners of the 2022 NYS Men's Amateur Four-Ball Championships.
- E6. From the 2022 NYS NYS Men's Senior Amateur Championship, the 5 lowest scorers and ties.
- E7. Most recent (as of September 22, 2022) winner or low amateur (*professional events) of the following regional championships:

The Colgate University course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. in the late 1950’s, has hosted its share of NYS championships in the past including two Men’s Amateurs in 1993 and 2001, the Women’s Amateur in 1983, Girls’ Juniors in 1967, 1975, and 1988, and the Boys’ Junior & Sub-Junior in 1971 and 1978 (before the three junior championships were combined in 1998). The last five NYS Boys’ & Girls’ Junior Amateurs were hosted by Seven Oaks from 2016-2021 (no tournament in 2020).
