JAMESVILLE, N.Y. -- The New York State Golf Association has accepted 142 entries for the 80th Boys’ Junior Amateur Championship at Soaring Eagles Golf Course at Mark twain State Park in Horseheads, N.Y., July 26-27.

To be eligible, a player must have a Handicap Index, and must be a member of the NYSGA, defined as either (1) belonging to an NYSGA member club or (2) joining the NYSGA as a 2022 NYSGA eClub Member. 

Sectional Qualifying, played over 18 holes, will be conducted at sites around New York from Sunday, June 26 to Friday, July 15 at the following venues:

June 26 - Chautauqua GC (Jamestown) - 7/2
June 26 - Corning CC (Elmira) - 8/3
June 27 - Mendon GC (Rochester) - 9/3
July 2 - Watertown GC (Watertown) - 5/2
July 3 - Links at Hiawatha (Binghamton) - 6/2
July 5 - Colonie G&CC (Albany) - 15/6
July 6 - Red Hook GC (Mid-Hudson) - 9/4
July 7 - Yahnundasis GC (Utica) - 5/2
July 9 - Malone - East (N. Country) - 5/2
July 9 - Wayne Hills CC (Finger Lakes) - 3/2
July 11 - Bethpage Yellow (Long Island) - 17/7
July 14 - Sheridan Park (Buffalo) - 13/5
July 15 - Tuscarora GC (Syracuse) - 16/6
( ##/## denotes the number of players competing for an allocated number of qualifying spots at each site.)

Nestled inside Mark Twain State Park, named after the author who often traveled to the area, Soaring Eagles is home to one of the most scenic and challenging courses in the area.

The list of players who are fully exempt into the 2022 NYS Boys' (18U) Junior Amateur (as of June 28):

Exemption categories for the championship are as follows:

Players in the Boys' 18U Division are exempt into the 2022 Championship if they are within one of the categories listed below. The NYSGA reserves the right to revise any of the exemption categories. Exempt players must submit an entry prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Wednesday, June 22, 2022).

• E1. From the 2021 NYS Boys’ 18U Junior Amateur Championship, the 10 lowest scorers and anyone tied for 10th place.
• E2. From the 2021 NYS Boys’ 14U Junior Amateur Championship, the 5 lowest scorers and anyone tied for 5th place.
• E3. From the 2022 NYSPHSAA Boys' Golf Championship, the 5 lowest scorers and anyone tied for 5th place.
• E4. Most recent (as of July 27, 2022) winner of the following regional events:
  • NYS PGA Junior Championship
  • PGA Junior Championship Qualifiers (WNY, CNY, NENY, MET PGA Sections)
  • International Junior Masters 
  • SDGA Junior Classic
  • BDGA Junior Stroke Play Championship
