NYSGA Accepts 467 Entries For 102nd NYS Men's Amateur Championship

JAMESVILLE, N.Y. – The New York State Golf Association has accepted 467 entries for the 102nd New York State Men’s Amateur Championship, to be hosted at Yahnundasis Golf Club, New Hartford, N.Y. July 8 - 10, 2025.

Eligible players must hold a Handicap Index at or below 6.0 and must be a member of the NYSGA, defined as 1) belonging to an NYSGA member club or 2) joining the NYSGA as a 2025 NYSGA eClub Member. 

The winner of this year's NYS Men’s Amateur will earn an exemption into the 2025 U.S. Amateur Championship, scheduled for Aug. 11-17 at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif. Each of the top-3 finishers (plus ties) will be fully exempt from local qualifying for the following year (2026). 

Sectional qualifying, to be played over 18 holes, will be conducted at 10 sites around the state from June 5 to July 6 at the following venues: 

June 5 - Timber Point GC (L. Island) -  57 players / 9 spots
June 9 - Lake Shore Y&CC (Syracuse) - 45 / 8
June 11 - Links at Hiawatha (Binghamton) - 20 / 4
June 14 - Wayne Hills CC (Finger Lakes) - 23 / 4
June 14 - Malone GC East (North Country) - 11 / 2
June 16 - Lancaster CC (Buffalo) - 75 /14
June 16 - Mendon GC (Rochester) - 34 / 7
June 18 - Red Hook GC (Mid Hudson) - 41 / 7
June 22 - Crestwood GC (Utica) - / 5
June 23 - Colonie G&CC (Albany) - 78 / 14
July 6 - Last Chance Qualifier (Yahnundasis GC) - 45 / TBA - Register

No playoffs will be conducted during sectional qualifying. All players tied for the final allocated spot at a given qualifier will advance to the championship.

EXEMPT PLAYERS

Players in the following categories are exempt into this year's Championship. The NYSGA reserves the right to revise any of the exemption categories.

  • E1. Winners of the NYS Men’s Amateur Championship from the last 20 years
  • E2. From the 2024 NYS Men’s Amateur Championship, the lowest 20 scorers and anyone tied for 20th place. 
  • E3. Winners of the NYS Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship from the last 10 years
  • E4. From the 2024 NYS Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship, the lowest 10 scorers and anyone tied for 10th place.
  • E5. Winners of the 2025 NYS Men’s Four-Ball Championships.
  • E6. From the 2025 NYS Boys’ 18U Amateur Championship, the 5 lowest scorers and ties. 
  • E7. Winner of the 2024 NYS Boys 14U Amateur Championship.
  • E8. From the 2024 NYS Men’s Senior Amateur Championship, the 5 lowest scorers and ties.
  • E9. Most recent winner or low amateur  (as of July 8, 2025) (*professional events of the following regional championships:
