NYS Champions Compete in U.S. Senior Women's Amateur

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Three New York State seniors will take to the course this week to compete in the 60th U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur.

Pennie Carlo of Rome, Teresa Cleland of Syracuse and Kim Kaul of Buffalo, all New York State Champions, will begin stroke play at Anchorage Golf Course on Saturday, July 30. All three players qualified at Tuscarora Golf Club in June.

Carlo secured the first alternate spot at the NYSGA conducted qualifier. She competed in the 57th U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur and captured the NYS Women’s Four-Ball title in 2017.

Cleland has seven NYS titles: 2011, 2012, 2013 Women’s Mid-Amateur; 2009, 2010 Women’s Senior; 2018, 2019 Women’s Four-Ball.

This U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur will mark her 11th appearance in the event (2009-14, 2016-17, 2019, 2021).

Kaul has five NYS titles under her belt including this year’s Women’s Four-Ball and Mixed Team. She adds those titles to her three Women’s Senior championships. She competed in the 2008 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur and the 2016 U.S. Women’s Four-Ball.

Following 36 holes of stroke play the field will be cut to the low 64 scores and ties. The course will be set up at 5,787 yards and play to a par of 72.
