Nine Represent Host State at Sleepy Hollow CC for 42nd U.S. Mid-Am
BRIARCLIFF, MANOR, N.Y. -- Nine players will represent New York State at the 42nd U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship at Sleepy Hollow Country Club located in Briarcliff Manor, along with a club member with NYS roots.
Players will begin stroke play on Saturday, September 9 and continue through Sunday, September 10. After 36 holes, the field will be reduced to the low 64 scorers heading into the first day of match play on Monday, September 11. The championship will conclude with the championship match scheduled on Thursday, September 14.

Two of the competitors are past NYS Men’s Mid-Amateur champions including Jamie Miller of Silver Creek (2014, 2018) and Brad Tilley of Easton, Conn., (2019) who’s a member at the host club, Sleepy Hollow. He's also a native of Chappaqua, N.Y. Both players earned exemptions this year. Miller is making his thirteenth USGA appearance, while Tilley is making his 11th.
Christian Cavaliere, of Katonah, was also exempt into the championship after he qualified for the U.S. Open as an amateur this year. The 25-year-old will be making his first U.S. Mid-Am appearance.
Michael Cochrane, of Scarsdale, advanced out of a 5-for-4 playoff at Sunningdale CC located in his hometown to qualify for his first USGA championship.
Brett Cooper, of Rockville Centre, qualified at Sewane Club in Hewlett, where he is a member. He shared co-medalist honors after posting 3-under 69. He won the 2020 Long Island Mid-Amateur at Inwood.
Darin Goldstein, of New York City, qualified at Sewane Club in Hewlett, and shared co-medalist honors with Cooper at 3-under 69. He was the 2017 NYS Men’s Mid-Am runner-up and won the Met Mid-Am that season.
Maxwell Koehler, of Long Island City, also qualified out of the playoff at Sunningdale CC, where five players tied for the low score of 71.
John Labiak, of New York City, also qualified out of the playoff at Sunningdale CC, where five players tied for the low score of 71.
Patrick Sheedy Jr, of Amherst, qualified out of Country Club of Buffalo in August with a 3-under 67 to earn co-medalist honors.
Jonathan Sherman, of Port Jefferson, qualified out of Knickerbocker CC in New Jersey as medalist with 4-under 68.
Sleepy Hollow Country Club will setup at 6,840 yards and par of 71, while stroke play co-host Fenway Golf Club in nearby Scarsdale, will setup at 6,6657 yards and a par of 70.
