New York State Golf Standouts: Summer 2026

We are highlighting the achievements of New York golfers as they make an impact at events across the country and beyond. From amateurs to professionals, these players continue to represent the Empire State with impressive performances on some of the sport’s biggest stages! 

August

  • Mimi McAndrew Wins Long Island Women’s Am Stroke Play Championship
    McAndrew, of Piping Rock Club, shot 69 on the final day to win by three strokes. She had won the event previously in 2024. Recap Story

  • Four New Yorkers Set to Compete at U.S. Amateur
    NYS Men's Amateur champion Matthew Lowe, Rochester-native Jackson Ormond, Katonah's Christian Cavaliere, and St. John's golfer Joseph Dolezal are all in the field at the 126th U.S. Amateur at Merion Golf Club. Scoring

  • Team New Yorker Shines at MGA's Carter Cup
    Former Girls' 14U champion, Alexandra Phung dominated at the 24th annual Carter Cup, hosted by the MGA, to win by 11 strokes. Her final round featured five birides. Results

  • Past Senior Am State Champ Wins Golfweek Senior Mountain Man
    Pulaski's Kevin Vandenberg won his third consecutive Senior Mountain Man title, part of the GolfWeek Senior Nation. Vandenberg, who won the 2022 Senior Am, also won the Dave King Senior Legends Invitational the week prior. Results


  • Tanner LaTorre Wins Northern Junior Championship in Connecticut 
    The Team New York Member and former 14U state champ picked up a big win against some of the top juniors. Rounds of 69 and 68 were enough for a one-stroke victory. Results


  • 4 State Champions Take on the U.S. Women's Am 
    Women's Am champions, Nina Choe ('26) and Ina Kim-Scaad ('24), as well as past NYS Girls' 18U champion Jordan Levitt ('23), and three-time champion Bailey Shoemaker ('19, '18, '17) are part of a loaded field at The Honors Course in Tennessee. Results

  • Syracuse's Riley Wins Ohio Adaptive Open

    Rounds of 73 and 72 made Ricky Riley the Men's Overall champion of the 4th Ohio Adaptive Open. Read More

  • Lee and Thomas Win the State 14U at Cortland Country Club
    Taerin Lee, of Jericho, cruised to her first state victory at the Girls' 14U finishing three-over par. Team New York player Brayden Thomas won the Boys' contest in the first hole of the playoff. Read More

  • Hamburger and Hughes Run it Back
    Robert Hughes and Jim Hamburger each won their first state title since 2018, when they won the Senior Am and Super Senior on the same day. This year, Hughes won the Super Senior while Hamburger won the Legends Amateur at Bellevue Country Club. Read More

  • 17 New Yorker's Compete in the Junior PGA Championships
    10 girls and seven boys represented the Empire State in Frisco. Alexandra Phung (Youth on Course - MGA) made the cut and finished T12. Final Results

  • NYSGA Legend Inducted to the Rochester District Golf Hall of Fame
    Christy Rittenhouse Schultz of Livonia is part of the RDGA's fifth Hall of Fame class. Schultz has won six NYS titles, two Women's Ams (2007 & 2008), and four Women's Mid-Ams (2009, 2010, 2021 & 2022). Press Release

  • Women's Mid-Am Champ Adds Another Victory
    Saratoga Springs' Lauren Cupp won at the United States Speedgolf Open for the sixth time. The win came in the same week she claimed  the Mid-Am title at Pinehaven. Final Results

  • Team New Yorker Member, Cupp, Wins AJGA Event
    Francisco Cupp, a Saratoga Springs native, won the AM Technical Solutions Junior at Southpointe for his first AJGA win. He shot 68 in the final round to win by four shots. Final Results

  • Choe and Cupp Claim Women’s Am and Mid-Am
    Nina Choe’s final round of 67 clinched her the Oak Hill Cup. She joins Dottie Pepper as the only people to have won the NYS Junior Am and Women’s Am in the same year. Lauren Cupp dominated the Mid-Am with an eight-stroke win at Pinehaven Country Club. Recap story

  • New Yorkers Take on the 85th Monroe Invitational 
    The field includes two Men’s Am champions: Matthew Lowe (’26) and Aiden Spampinato (’24), two 2026 Men’s Am top 10-finishers: Lucas Rizo-Patron and Brayden Dock, as well as the RDGA Match Play champion, Owen Corby. Results

  • Francisco Cupp makes matchplay at the U.S. Junior 
    The Team New York member shot three-over in qualifying to advance to matchplay at Saucon Valley C.C. in Bethlehem, P.A. Results

  • Four New Yorkers Competing at Saucon Valley for U.S. Junior Amateur
    The group representing the Empire State includes recent NYS Junior Amateur champion Samuel Gao (Hong Kong), along with Michael Clifford-Levy (New York City),  Francisco Cupp (Saratoga Springs), Jackson Ormond (Rochester) and Ethan Yao (Manhasset). Learn more

  • Skaneateles’ Jeremy Sisson Qualifies For PGA TOUR Americas event
    Sisson’s round of five-under helped him reach his third PGA TOUR Americas event. Player profile

  • Young and Nicholas Compete at The Open Championship
    New York natives Cameron Young and James Nicholas set to tee off at the 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Results

  • 34 Amateurs in the Field at New York State Open
    The event is being run by the MET PGA and is being held at Bethpage Black. Results

  • Two Team New York Members in the Field at the U.S. Girls Junior
    Nina Choe and Maria Glavin are playing in the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship in North Carolina. Choe qualified through winning the State Girls' 18U Junior. Glavin qualified as an alternate in sectional qualifying. Results

  • Kevin Roy Finishes T11 at Scottish Open
    The Syracuse native recorded rounds of 67, 68, 65, and 70 at The Renaissance Club. Results

  • Nathan Han Wins in Asian Development Tour
    The former Columbia Golf standout won in Taiwan after birdieing the first hole in a playoff. Recap article

  • Two NYSGA Players Shine at U.S. Adaptive Open
    Kelly Gorman, from Delmar, and Ricky Reilly, from Syracuse, each made the cut in their respective fields at the 5th U.S. Adaptive Open in Maryland. Delaney Bartling, from West Islip, and Nancy Lee, from New York City, also competed. U.S. Adaptive Open

  • Abel, Babak, and Burchett Claim RDGA Junior Championships
    A birdie on the 35th hole of the tournament gave Burchett the lead he needed to win the Boys’ Junior by one stroke. In the Girls’ Junior, Delaney Abel recorded the only two rounds under par and won at nine-under. Maksym Babak had the two low rounds of the Sub. Junior Boys event to easily win by nine shots.   • Two New Yorkers Qualify For the U.S. Amateur 
    Christian Cavaliere of Katonah and Joseph Dolezal of Old Westbury advanced through qualifying conducted by the MGA. Cavaliere medaled after shooting six-under. Recap article

  • Lowe Goes Off on Final Day to Win State Men’s Amateur
    Matthew Lowe used rounds of 67 and 65 to erase an eight stroke deficit and to claim the 103rd NYS Men’s Amateur Championship at Glens Falls Country Club. Recap article

  • Choe and Gao win Girls’ and Boys’ 18U Junior Amateur
    Nina Choe and Samuel Gao each cruise to their first state titles at Cavalry Club. Choe, a member of Team New York, earned exemption to the U.S. Girls’ Junior, Gao for the U.S. Junior. Results

  • Saratoga's Francisco Cupp Qualifies for U.S. Junior Amateur

  • Deepdale's Ina Kim-Schaad Competes at R&A Women's Amateur
    The past NYS Women's Am champ and 2025 U.S. Women's Mid-Am winner advanced into match play at the international event. Results

  • Representing NY In the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills
    Amateur player Jackson Ormond (Rochester), Kevin Roy (Syracuse), James Nicholas and Brandon Wu (Westchester) all qualified, while Cameron Young (Westchester) was exempt into the field. Follow scoring

  • Syracuse's Ricky Reilly Qualifies for Third Consecutive U.S. Adaptive Open
    The CNY area standout has advanced to the national amateur championship for three consecutive years. It will be hosted at Woodmont CC in Maryland. View Post

  • Roy and Nicholas survive "Golf's Longest Day" advancing to the U.S. Open at Shinnecock
     New York natives Kevin Roy and James Nicholas qualified for the U.S. Open on Monday after a 36-hole qualifier at Century Country Club and Golf Club of Purchase. It's the second consecutive year that Nicholas, a Scarsdale native, has advanced through "Golf's Longest Day." It will be the first major-championship start for Roy, the Syracuse native. Results

  • 25+ New York Pros and Amateurs Compete in U.S. Open Final Stage Qualifying
    The group is spread out across five qualifiers being conducted on June 8, with most of the Empire Staters competing in Purchase, N.Y and Canada.   • Past NYSGA Champion Anthony Maglisco Captures 2026 AIM Championship (CNY PGA) Over 72 Holes
    The LeMoyne graduate who plays out of Bellevue CC won by eight shots. He has won both the NYS Boys' 14U and the NYS Men's Four-Ball. Recap story

  • Brandon Grzywacz Wins 99th Country Club of Rochester Inviational
    The Rochester area native who now resides in Pinehurst, N.C. captured the historic title over the weekend at the Donald Ross gem.

  • Green & Kim-Schaad Set to Compete at 81st U.S. Women's Open at The Riviera
    Melanie Green is an LPGA tour rookie from Medina, while Ina Kim-Schaad (a) earned an exemption by winning last year's U.S. Women's Mid-Am. Kim-Schaad also captured the 2024 NYS Women's Am. Full field

  • Rochester's Jackson Ormond Awarded Sponsors Exemption into Korn Ferry Tour's BMW Charity Pro-Am
    The 18-year-old from Webster is competing in his first professional tour event as an amateur. View post

  • Scott Berliner of NENY PGA Section Qualifies for U.S. Senior Open
    The teaching professional from Glens Falls CC shot 4-under 66 at New Haven CC to qualify for the national open. Learn more

  • 2x NYS Girls' 14U Champ Alexa Phung Wins Dye Junior Invitational
    The two-time NYS Girls' 14U champion captured the national junior invitational victory over 54 holes at Crooked Stick GC in Indiana. Full results
