SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The Northeastern New York (NENY) PGA announced the section's 2023 Special Award Winners, one of which is longtime NYSGA committee member and past president (2018-19) Warren Winslow.

Winslow, officially received the section's Doug Evans Distinguished Service Award, during their annual special awards and hall of fame banquet hosted at Albany Country Club on Thursday, Nov. 16th. He is a resident of Albany and a member of Western Turnpike Golf Course.

Winslow has been a longtime course rater for the NYSGA. He started helping out in the mid-1990s, and has been a volunteer team leader in the Capital Region over the past decade. He is also a Senior Rules Official for the NYSGA, and attends many of the state amateur championships to help officiate and provide rulings to players and help monitor pace of play around the golf course during each event.

Locally, he volunteers his time both at his home golf course, Western Turnpike, and at various local PGA section events, including their junior tournaments.

About the Doug Evans Distinguished Service Award

The "NENY PGA Doug Evans Distinguished Service Award" bestows special recognition on an individual who has had a meaningful contribution to the NENY PGA Section, the NENY PGA Membership and the entirety of the local area golfing community in general. This award embraces the characteristics of leadership, integrity, and enthusiasm for the game of golf much like its namesake, Doug Evans. 

The award bestows special recognition on an individual who is a steward for the NENY PGA Professionals and the game of golf in general. Non-PGA members who have made lasting and meaningful contributions to the NENY PGA Section, the NENY PGA Membership and the entirety of the local area golfing community. The candidate must possess outstanding qualities of integrity, leadership, and advocate for NENY PGA Professionals with a substantial record of service to the growth of the game.

All of the 2023 NENY PGA Special Award Winners will be celebrated for their achievements at the NENY PGA Special Awards Banquet set for Thursday, November 16, 2023.
