More Wins for Morin, Who Claims the 2026 Women’s Senior Am
ENDWELL, N.Y. – Louise-Anne Morin made four crucial pars to take home the 72nd NYS Women’s Senior Amateur at Binghamton Country Club. Morin entered the 17th hole down by one stroke and walked off the 18th victorious on Wednesday.

It wasn’t the start Morin, of McCann Golf Course, would have hoped for. She double-bogeyed the first hole and then three-putted the next hole after hitting the green in regulation for bogey.
“I had no idea [about the leaderboard] and I thought I was out of it,” Morin said.
She finished the front-nine at 15-over for the tournament, tied with Christy Malo (Park Country Club) who made five consecutive pars. Morin went on to double-bogey three of the next five holes while Malo avoided double-bogey to take the solo lead heading into the par-5 15th hole.
Both players parred the 15th and 16th holes. On 17, Malo and Morin were each in the fairway but missed their approach shots short right to a back pin location. Malo putt first from ten feet off the green; she left herself a sizable par putt. Morin, with a similar putt, took a better line and gave herself a more manageable par try which she converted.
On the final hole, a par 3, the two were tied but Morin wasn’t aware until her caddie/husband, Todd Jackson, informed her.
“On 18 my husband said to me ‘put your heart into this one because you’re actually playing for something here’ and then my heart started beating a little faster,” Morin said.
Morin found the green with her tee shot, the back side with a front pin, while Malo was 10 yards short. Malo putted from off the green but still had more than 15 feet left for par. Malo hit her lag putt to close-range and tapped it in for the win, as Malo bogeyed.
“I didn’t know I needed the second putt to win but when I heard the hoorah from the crowd around I kind of knew I closed the deal,” Morin said.
Morin finished the tournament at 21-over for her second state championship of the year. She won the Women’s Senior Four-Ball in June at Leatherstocking Golf Course with last year’s winner Ingrid Narken. In 2025, she also won the Senior Mixed Team with Jackson. Today’s victory marked her first solo state win
“All along I had very good partners to lean on,” Morin said. “I felt like this time I needed to prove myself that I’m a worthy partner for one of them.”
Malo finished in second at 22-over. Patricia Mayne (Western Turnpike Golf Club) came in third missing out by two shots. Pennie Carlo (Kanon Valley Country Club) and Mary Sicard (Queensbury Country Club) finished fourth and fifth respectively.
In the Super-Senior division, Madelyn Hornstein cruised to the finish line after leading by three after the first round. Hornstein, of Drumlins Golf Course, became a first-time grandmother on Tuesday morning which she said alleviated any stress this week.
“I’m very excited, I felt like I didn’t have any pressure whatsoever because I’m a new grandmother,” Hornstein said. “[Her grandson] He helped me out there, knocked some balls out from the trees into the fairways.”
Hornstein finished 23-over for the championship, good enough for a four-shot victory. Marilyn McDermott (Tuscarora Golf Club) came in second. Karen Feldman (Columbia Golf & Country Club) rounded out the podium at 28-over.
In the Legends division, Barbara Harrison of Oswego Country Club successfully defended her title. It marked her third consecutive year taking home hardware at the Senior Am as she won the Super Senior Am in 2024. Harrison called the victory unlikely as she entered the final round in a four-way tie for second place, two shots from the leader.
“I didn’t think I had a chance today,” Harrison said. “It was a tough course and yesterday I felt very deflated and didn’t feel like I played well.”
She came out firing with three straight pars, a bogey, and a birdie. Harrison also birdied the 12th hole. Entering the 17th hole, she was tied with Kitty Colliflower who double-bogeyed the hole to squander the lead after Harrison bogeyed. On the final hole, they matched pars as Harrison secured the victory at 26-over.
Colliflower (Oak Hill Country Club) finished runner-up at 27-over. Kathy Harkins (Ballston Spa Country Club) finished in third place.
