Miller, Romano and Lyon Qualify for 41st U.S. Mid-Am
WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Three players advanced into the the 41st U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship during the NYSGA-conducted sectional qualifier at Park Country Club on Monday.
Silver Creek’s Jamie Miller, of Crag Burn Golf Club, finished the day at 3-under 68 to medal.

The qualifier went on despite weather delays throughout the day. Only nine players turned in rounds under par, in hopes of securing one of the three qualifying spots.
Miller, a four-time NYSGA champion dropped two birdies down the stretch, on no. 16 and no. 17 to put him ahead of the four players tied for second place.
This will be Miller’s fourth U.S. Mid-Amateur appearance. He previously qualified for the USGA championship in 2014, 2018 and 2021.
Canadians Connor Lyon,Thomas Provost-Blais, and Corey Eccles along with Buffalo’s Andrew Romano, of Lancaster Country Club, finished at 2-under and needed a playoff to determine their final positions.
Connor Lyon and Andrew Romano advanced through the playoff to capture the other two qualifying positions.
The playoff took place on the par-5 ninth hole at Park. Lyon made an eagle, while Romano knocked in a birdie.
Provost-Blais and Eccles will be the first and second alternates, respectively.
The Buffalo-area layout was setup at 7,002 yards at par 71 for the qualifier.
The 41st U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship will be held at Erin Hills in Wisconsin, September 10-15, 2022.
