Three New York natives grabbed qualifying spots and are headed to compete at Troon Country Club in Scottsdale, Arizona in September.
Tony Hejna of Buffalo, Brandon Grzywacz of Pinehurst (from Clarendon, NY) and Alex Weir of Erie, PA (from Rochester, NY) each shot 1-under par to share qualifying medalist honors at Crag Burn.
Hejna is a member of the host club, a past winner of the NYS Boys' 14U Junior (1982) and recently qualified for the 2025 U.S. Senior Amateur Championship out of a qualifier in Rochester. He first qualified for the U.S. Mid-Am in 1994 and this will be his sixth time qualifying for the national championship.
Grzywacz has previously qualified for two U.S. Amateur Four-Balls (2020, 2025) and this will be his first U.S. Mid-Am appearance.
Weir was the second alternate in 2024 at the Buffalo qualifier, and was able to capture a spot this time around.
A playoff was held to decide the alternate positions between four players tied at even par. Marco Nieto of Scranton, PA was the first alternate after a birdie on the first playoff hole, and Fredrik Hildebrand of Sweden secured the second alternate with a par on the second hole.
Crag Burn GC played at 7,148 yards and a Par of 72.
