October 24, 2024

AUGUSTA, G.A. -- A trio of junior players from New York State have qualified for the 11th Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club, scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 2025, prior to the start of the 89th Masters Tournament.

The group includes now four-time qualifier Alexandra Phung of Forest Hills (Girls 12-13), Thomas Goodelle of New Hartford (Boys 14-15), and Emma Xu of Roslyn Heights (Girls 7-9).

All three advanced out of the regional qualifier at The Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey on September 21, 2024. Xu totaled 114 points (next best was 90) in the three skills challenges, while Phung totaled 125 (next best was 117), and Goodele finished with 147 (next best was 130).

To reach the regional site, each junior had to advance through sub-regional and local qualifying sites earlier in the season.

The 2025 Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals will include eighty junior boys and girls, ages 7-15 from around the world.

Phung, who won the 2023 NYS Girls' 14U Junior Amateur at Lake Placid Club, is no stranger to the national stage or competing at Augusta National. She is one of six returning finalists, and the only player who's been to multiple (2019, 2022, 2023). She won the Girls 10-11 age group in 2023.

Earlier this season, Goodelle competed in the 2024 NYS Boys' 14U Junior Amateur at Green Lakes State Park and finished T4 at 2-over par for 36 holes.

The program, which was founded in 2013, began in partnership between the Masters Tournament, the PGA of America and the USGA.
