Cleland, Two Others Qualify for 58th U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur at Tuscarora
MARCELLUS, N.Y. – Sectional qualifying for the 58th U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship at Tuscarora Golf Club was conducted by the New York State Golf Association on Wednesday morning.
Eleven senior women (age 50+) competed for three qualifying spots into this year’s championship at Cedar Rapids Country Club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on August 24-29.

Joann Ferrieri of Florida earned medalist honors after posting a two-over 74.
Syracuse native Teresa Cleland and Marion Reid of Canada captured the final two spots at four-over 76. Cleland is a seven-time New York State title holder, most recently winning the 2019 NYS Women’s Senior Four-Ball Championship with partner Carina Watkins. Watkins of Phoenix posted an 82 at today’s qualifier.
2019 NYS Women’s Four-Ball Champion Pennie Carlo of Rome, Debbie Court of Canada, and Debbie Johnson of Stamford competed in a playoff for the alternate positions. Johnson captured the first spot on the first playoff hole, while Court secured the second and final spot after three playoff holes.
The course was setup at 5,708 yards to a par of 72.
