Chelsea Dantonio Two Clear of Field in Girls' Championship
Greece, NY - Lancaster’s Chelsea Dantonio holds the first round lead in the 52nd Annual N.Y.S. Girls’ Amateur Championship after posting an even par round of 73 on the 5,686 yard layout at Ridgemont Country Club.

Dantonio started her round with a birdie on the first hole, an uphill 328 yard par-4. She followed that up with five consecutive pars and then slipped with a bogey on seven. A birdie on the ninth got her back to 1-under on her round as she made the turn.
On the back nine Dantonio birdied 11 and 12 after parring the 150 yard par-3 10th hole to get to 2-under par through 12 holes. She played 13 and 14 at even par, but then bogeyed 15, 16 and 17 to get back to even par on her round. A closing par on the par-5 18 secured her first round 73.
Dantonio is two strokes ahead of Lewiston’s Maren Cipolla at 75 and three clear of Larisssa Carter (Auburn), Sydney Shaw (Orchard Park), Lindsay May (Auburn), and Marah Penn (Hamburg) who are all at 76.
The final round begins at 7:30am on Wednesday.
