Bailey Shoemaker Returns to Augusta National Women's Amateur in 2023
AUGUSTA, G.A. – Bailey Shoemaker of West Edmeston, will once again be the lone player from New York State competing in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. The upcoming national tournament is scheduled for March 29 – April 1.
The 18-year-old and three-time NYS Girls’ Junior champion (2017-19), who now resides in Dade City Florida, was invited for a second consecutive year to compete in the fourth edition of the amateur event.

During her debut in 2022, she missed the cut by two strokes after shooting 151 (+7).
So far in 2023, she's posted two top-10 finishes; T-4 in the Girls Junior Invitational at Sage Valley and T-5 at the Kathy Whitworth Invitational (which she's won twice).
Last season, she won the Florida Women's Amateur, finished runner-up in the U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball with partner Kaitlyn Schroeder, reached the semifinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur, and made the cut in three professional events she played in, including the U.S. Women's Open. She also earned junior All-America honors for a third consecutive year.
Shoemaker’s current World Amateur Golf Ranking is 45. She is signed to play golf at the University of Southern California starting in the fall of 2023.
The inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur was held in 2019. It was established to inspire greater interest and participation in the women’s game by creating a new, exciting and rewarding pathway for these players to fulfill their dreams.
The international field of 72 women amateurs will compete over 54 holes of stroke play.
The first 36 holes will be contested over two days on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., March 29 and 30, 2023. The entire field will then play Augusta National for an official practice round Friday, March 31. The final round will take place at Augusta National on Saturday, April 1 and will feature the top 30 competitors who made the cut.
NBC Sports will broadcast three hours of live final round coverage at Augusta National from 12pm – 3pm EDT on April 1.
